Interview with photographer KassiaMeinholdt
[Kassia is in my living room sometimes so I typed a few questions and made her answer them. The photos on the home page and table of contents were also taken by her. Check out more photos at her flickr. |
RM: What type of camera do you like to use?
Kassia
Meinholdt: I use Canon. I would like a fancier Canon though. So I'm saving up to get one. I'm not
opposed to Nikon. I started out with
Nikon. I heart both brands.
RM: If you were paid five dollars for every
picture you took, no matter the quality, would you still put in time and effort
to take higher quality photos or would you just take hundreds of pictures each
day with a point-and-shoot camera?
KM: I would do both. I usually shoot about 1,000 photos per
photo shoot so those photos combined with photos from my point and shoot camera
would make me more money than if I just worked a normal job with minimum wage.
RM: What would you consider the best
possible situation for you as a photographer?
KM: If I was wearing camouflage in a jungle
watching a dinosaur fight. I would
like to be far away with a long telephoto lens so I wouldn't get stepped on by large
dinosaur feet. I think the photos
that I would get from the shoot would either make really nice dinosaur stock
photos I could put on istock.com or the cover of Dinosaur Lovers magazine.
RM: You currently live in Lawrence, KS,
where I'm not sure if there is much of a photography scene. Is there any certain city you would
like to be based in?
KM: I want to travel the world more. So I wouldn't mind being based in a
different country. I would like to
live in New York City. I hear they have a pretty happening scene for
photography.
RM: Last Question. What is the best type of pet and why?
KM: Um,
this is a difficult question. In
conjunction with my lifestyle I think the best-suited pet for me would be a cat
like the cat I have now. She's nice, cuddly, and low maintenance. Now if I were to become a Vegas
performer I would need to upgrade to a tiger but for now my kitty cat works
nicely.
